Mimi Eden Accessories

Mimi Eden Accessories is an independent maker specialising in handcrafted accessories, using simple, understated design aesthetics, responsible processes and materials that stand the test of time. 

Mimi uses British and Italian vegetable tanned leather in beautiful rich colours. Vegetable tanning is the traditional method of tanning leather which uses vegetation such as bark, fruit and leaves and is far less harmful to the environment than the chemicals (Chromium) used in modern tanning methods. It is also stronger and more hard wearing than Chrome tanned leather. Vegetable tanned leather has wonderful characteristics in the hide and proudly shows the imperfections, scarring and flaws in the finished product, which, over time will develop a wonderful patina unique to each individual piece.

Leather is a by product of the meat industry which would otherwise end up in landfil and who wants that? Whilst there is a meat industry there will be leather. Lastly leather is totally biodegradeable making is better for the environment than synthetic and even most vegan leather alternatives.

Mimi also uses hand block printed organic cotton lining and other natural materials such as linen, denim and waxed British woven cotton canvas. All products are hand cut and assembled in small batches or made to order which helps to avoid unnecessary waste. British cast brass buckles and fasteners add the finishing touches. All products are handmade by Mimi in her studio in Yorkshire.
